INTEL TO PARTNER ON MUSK’S $25B TERAFAB CHIP PROJECT
Intel’s role as primary foundry partner puts advanced process technology back at the center of the AI infrastructure race.
🔴 On April 7, 2026, Intel said it will be the primary foundry partner for Elon Musk’s Terafab semiconductor megaproject.
🔴 The joint venture involves Tesla, SpaceX and xAI, and it is targeting 1 terawatt of AI compute per year.
🔴 The project is planned around Intel’s 18A process node in Austin, Texas, which makes this as much a foundry story as an AI compute story.
For semiconductor professionals, the significance is in the combination of scale, process node choice and customer mix. Now the market will watch execution, not just announcement value.
